PURPLE ALERT is a rapid notification system. At its core, PURPLE ALERT is a multi-part communications process for disseminating alerts to NSU students and employees. PURPLE ALERTS are distributed through a company called Everbridge.

Registration for PURPLE ALERTS will take place directly through an Everbridge supported website.

The PURPLE ALERT system is a closed system, meaning that only employees and students of the Northwestern State community, and specific invited guests, such as schools that border our properties, local and state law enforcement, ambulance and fire personnel, and any University governing entity are extended an invitation to join the PURPLE ALERT database.

Northwestern State has implemented an emergency notification sysyem with Everbridge.  Everberidge is the company we will be using to send emergency notification messages to employees and students, informing you of critical events on all of our campuses, any weather related closures, and anything in the community that directly impacts the University.

The Everbridge System is functional at this time, and is the sole system for notifications. This system provides two-way communication that will allow us to track message delivery and confirmations in real time and will enable Northwestern State to communicate with employees and students anywhere, anytime via any device, including phone. email, text, messaging, smartphones, tablets, and more.  This comprehensive emergency notification system will help keep all individuals informed before, during and after incidents in a timely, effective and relaiable manner, as the incident allows.
